New Freight Shed Operating Procedures

Effective immediately, the following arrangements apply at the Wurrumiyanga Freight Shed:

  • Shop staff and freight customers are not permitted to enter the Freight Shed.
  • When collecting freight, report to the designated collection area and wait outside the shed.
  • Freight Shed staff will retrieve freight and assist with loading where required.
  • Mixed freight will be available for collection from the designated collection area at the front of the shed during the allocated collection period.
  • Shop freight will be loaded from the rear of the shed by Freight Shed staff only.
  • Please do not enter the restricted work area unless authorised by Council staff.

These changes have been introduced to improve workplace safety, protect the security of freight, maintain a clear chain of custody, and ensure Council continues to meet its contractual obligations for handling freight and Australia Post consignments.

Council appreciates the cooperation of all freight customers and commercial operators as these new procedures are implemented.

Please download and read the attached notice for complete information.
