Milikapiti Festival – A Celebration for Tiwi, by Tiwi
The Tiwi Islands will come alive on Saturday 6 September 2025 for the Milikapiti Festival – a one-day celebration of Tiwi culture, music, sport, and community pride.
Produced by proud Tiwi woman Libby Collins with Artback NT, this special event brings together Elders, families, and young people to celebrate Tiwi stories, language, and song. Expect a full day of activities, sport, food, and an all-Tiwi mainstage line-up.

Location: Milikapiti Oval, Melville Island

Welcome and Opening Ceremony (1:00 pm)

Performances by Tiwi artists into the night
Travel & Access
This is a festival for Tiwi people living in Milikapiti and across the Tiwi Islands. Local bus services and extra inter-island ferry services will help people get to and from the event.
If you are not Tiwi and would like to attend, you are warmly welcome, but please note: you will need to organise your own transport and accommodation. The festival team cannot provide this for visitors.
